Advocacy

We’re here to champion Deaf rights and wellness

Championing Deaf Rights and Well-being

1. To champion and advocate for the legal rights and growth of Deaf persons.

2. To inspire the Deaf to advocate not only for themselves but for others like them and achieve development milestones.

3. Help the Deaf overcome communication barriers.

4. Enhance self-esteem allowing them to dream and achieve success in their lives.

5. Help elevate the challenges of raising Deaf children. Navigating the complexities of today’s world is significantly more demanding for those who cannot hear their environment. We empower Deaf individuals to lead independent, fulfilling, and productive lives while finding their unique voice.

6. Assist Deaf individuals in effective communication with others. This can be challenging due to limited English vocabulary and grammar. Many are unaware that ASL is the primary language for Deaf individuals. While English words may be used for context, the linguistic structure of ASL is fundamentally different.

Overcoming Barriers: The Deaf Experience

Deaf individuals often grapple with emotions like worry, sadness, fear, and anger due to the challenges they face in a hearing-centric world. Isolation can stem from fear of embarrassment and feeling different. Deafness, often described as an “invisible disability,” presents unique challenges for children, especially in learning English without specialized support. Recent advancements in teaching methods have fostered a shift towards recognizing the potential for Deaf individuals to lead fulfilling lives without limitations, cultivating a spirit of resilience.
